DIVERSITY HIRE
“Her art is her voice. But who gets to listen?”
Diversity Hire is a powerful short drama that follows Samyra, a young Black artist who walks into what she believes is the opportunity of a lifetime, only to find herself face-to-face with the quiet violence of racial expectations. During a tense interview with an all-white corporate panel, Samyra must decide whether to compromise her artistic integrity for acceptance, or walk away with her voice intact.
About the Filmmaker – Jadyn Spann

Jadyn Spann is an emerging filmmaker, writer, and director based in Minneapolis. Diversity Hire marks her directorial debut, born out of her own lived experiences navigating academic and professional art spaces as a young Black woman. Jadyn’s storytelling is bold, personal, and unafraid to confront uncomfortable truths. Through this film, she invites audiences to witness the everyday microaggressions that Black artists face ,not as abstract concepts, but as deeply personal, human moments. As her first film, Diversity Hire serves as both a creative statement and a mission piece: to create stories that amplify marginalized voices and challenge the systems that silence them.
Director’s Vision Statement:This film is deeply personal to me, as it explores themes of race, Identity and artist value, all of which I’ve experienced in my own life. Navigating various industries is complicated for black women and this project allows me to explore the frustrations that arise when trying to fit into a corporate mold that was never made for people like you.
