In 2023, founder Ashley Dahl dedicated her life to filmmaking by enrolling at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD). She immersed herself in her education, quickly establishing herself as a driven and creative filmmaker.
Say Rape 2025 | Ashley Dahl
In January 2025, as part of a business course at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, founder Ashley Dahl was selected to compete for a grant to produce a feature film. After five months of development, she and her team completed both a screenplay and a concept trailer for Threshold.
On May 7, 2025, Ashley was awarded a $25,000 production grant to bring Threshold to life, marking Dahlhouse's first feature film and a major milestone in the company's growth.
Threshold In-progress Screening 2025 | Threshold Team
On October 31, 2025, the Threshold team hosted a private in-progress screening for friends, family, and investors. The event offered an early look at the film's progress, celebrated the work of the cast and crew, and provided supporters with a preview of the project's vision ahead of its completion.

On July 19, 2026, Ashley and the Threshold team officially completed production on Threshold. With the film finished, it was submitted to film festivals, marking the beginning of its festival journey as Dahlhouse looks ahead to sharing its first feature with audiences around the world.

Dahlhouse began in 2018 as a group of high school friends with a shared passion for horror filmmaking. Together, they wrote, shot, and edited short horror films, using each project as an opportunity to develop their skills and tell original stories.
In 2024, Ashley and her team won Best Experimental Film at the Intercollegiate Film Festival for their short film Picture Perfect.
The following year, Ashley earned Best Documentary Film at the same festival for her documentary Say Rape, further establishing Dahlhouse as an emerging voice in independent filmmaking.

Threshold 2025 | Threshold Team
From June 21 to August 7, 2025, the Dahlhouse team filmed Threshold on location in Eagan and Bloomington, Minnesota. The production marked the studio's largest and most ambitious project to date, bringing together a dedicated cast and crew to bring the feature film to life.
IPK Video Shoot 2026 | IPK & Dahlhouse Crew
In early May 2026, Dahlhouse partnered with Impossible Prom Kings to produce the music video for their single Carrion. The video was released on June 24, 2026, expanding Dahlhouse's portfolio into music video production.
